Zhu Gang is a renowned contemporary Chinese ink painter and a first-class artist. He currently serves as the President of The Shanghai Association of Art Museums and holds numerous esteemed positions, including Librarian of The Shanghai Research Institute of Culture and History, part-time researcher at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Distinguished Professor at Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts. As a painter from the Shanghai Painting and Calligraphy Academy and a member of the China Artists Association, Zhu Gang's influence extends widely in the art community. His previous roles include Director of the Liu Haisu Art Museum and Dean of the School of Fine Arts at the Shanghai Institute of Visual Arts.
In March 2015, Zhu Gang gained international recognition when he painted a portrait of Prince William of the United Kingdom, presented by Zhou Taitong, Vice Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference. His work reached a global audience when a short film titled “Zhu Gang’s Opera Figure Paintings” was broadcast on the New York Times Square screen in August 2021. Additionally, over 500 major media outlets, including the Associated Press, Kyodo News, Yonhap, Yahoo Finance, and Forbes China, premiered or broadcast the film in multiple languages, highlighting Zhu Gang’s unique contributions to the world of art.
